Nilesh Salgaonkar, Sachin Sardessai and Deepali Satardekar emerged victorious at the by-election in the three wards of Pomburpa-Olaulim, Pilerne-Marra and Socorro Panchayats respectively.
In Pomburpa-Olaulim, Nilesh Salgaonkar bagged 133 votes, while Shankar Budue managed to get 112. Total votes polled were 247, of which two votes were rejected.
Sachin Sardessai polled 197 votes in Pilerne-Marra Panchayat, while Surya Rane came second with 85 votes. Total votes polled were 286, while four votes were rejected.
In Socorro Panchayat, Deepali Satardekar got 317 votes and was declared elected. Soniya Asnodkar polled 276 votes, while the third candidate, Dakshaya Moraskar, bagged 46 votes. Total votes polled were 644, even as five votes were rejected.
The counting which was taken up at 8 am on Monday ended by 10 am. Bardez Mamlatdar was the returning officer for the by-polls.
BICHOLIM:Ravikant Shetye won the by-election to Ward 1 of Menkurem Panchayat by eight votes. The result of the by-election was declared at Bicholim Mamlatdar’s office on Monday. Shetye polled 196 votes, while his opponent, Premanand Naik, got 188 votes.
Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal and ZP Sanjay Shetye have congratulated the winning candidate.
