BBSM issued an ultimatum to the government to stop grants to English medium primary schools by Gandhi Jayanti.

Pandurang Nadkarni opined that primary level education in mother tongue is very important for development of the child. He said the BJP government should stop grants to English medium primary schools.

Fr Ataide said the government should give grants to only government primary schools, which are Konkani or Marathi and not English medium primary schools. Nagesh Karmali said that if the government doesn't stop grants then it will face the consequences in the upcoming assembly election. Subhas Velingkar said the government is playing with the sentiments of the people on MoI issue.
