BELAGAVI
Intensifying their campaign against bootleggers in Belagavi and illicit liquor ahead of the forthcoming by-elections to Belagavi parliamentary constituency, Belagavi police have sized another huge stock of liquor on a second consecutive day.
Acting on specific information, a team of Belagavi Rural PS and excise officials carried out raids on the house of Laxman alias Balu Sateri Patil (50) of Bahaddarwadi village in Belagavi taluka. About 436 bottles of whisky and rum of different brands have been seized along with two mobile sets.
The cost of the liquor has been estimated at around Rs 2 lakh as per Goa rates, but the amount rises sharply when it comes to Karnataka rates. A case has been registered at the Belagavi Rural police station.
