Located centrally between Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and to Goa, Belagavi is now set to become the next global technology hub in the country.

The Karnataka government has initiated measures in this direction and will be organising a one-day conference on IT and electronics in Belagavi, which was recently recognized in the first list of the Smart City programme of Government of India.

Over 30 industry leaders from across the nation, over 300 delegates representing over 150 companies and organisations will take part in the conference.

‘Buzzing Belagavi - the Next Global Technology Hub,' a one-day conference will be organised on June 17, with an intention to launch Belagavi city on the global IT map. The Karnataka government along with the district administration will hold the meet that has been supported by the department of IT, BT and Science Technology with some private players in the industry co-hosting the event.

Briefing about the conference, Deputy Commissioner N Jayaram on Tuesday said Karnataka government is now looking forward to promote the tier II cities in the state and Belagavi has come as a top priority.

“Belagavi has all potentials to be among the leading IT-BT city of the nation. The one-day event has been planned to showcase the IT, IT-eco sensitivity and Electronics Ecosystem of Belagavi and opportunities offered by the region for the fruitful investment one-day event will bring together leaders from across the nation to deliberate on making Belagavi as the next global technology hub,” Jayaram said.

Leaders from MNCs like IBM, HP, Aeris, Bosch, NASSCOM, Accenture, Microsoft Research India and other international brands will address the delegates.

“Belagavi is well positioned and lies equidistant from Mumbai, Bangaluru, Hyderabad and just about 100 kms to the western coastline of Goa. We have excellent road, rail and air connectivity. Belagavi already has Aerospace SEZ- India’s first aircraft manufacturing operations,” said Jayram.

“We also have about 10,000 acres of industrially developed land and still more available, hence I am confident that the day is not far where Belagavi would be among one of the hottest global destinations for IT-BT industry,” Jayram said.
