Belagavi youth drowns off Anjuna
MAPUSA: A 26-year-old native of Belagavi drowned at Anjuna beach in the wee hours of Monday.
According to Anjuna Police, the deceased, Aditya Chandram, and a friend had checked in at a hotel in Anjuna on Sunday.
After their dinner at a bar and restaurant in Anjuna, Aditya told his friend that he was going out to hire a rent-a-car, while the friend remained in the restaurant.
When the friend tried to contact Aditya on his mobile phone, it was found switched off. Thinking that Aditya may have gone to the hotel after taking the car, the friend went to his hotel room.
Police received information at about 3 am on Monday, stating that a body had been found near the rocks at Anjuna. PSI Subhash Gaunkar and assistant police officer rushed to the site and conducted the inquest.
Anjuna Police contacted Aditya's family members with the help of his cell phone which was found near the body, while his friend was informed about the incident on Monday morning. Police is investigating the case.
