To create a formal solar technician's practical atmosphere for the benefit of the students, the Bicholim and Cacora Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) will now have a facility of unique Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has floated a tender for the supply and installation of equipment for pilot renewable energy laboratories at Bicholim (North Goa) and Cacora (South Goa).
These laboratories will be helpful to the students in the solar technician trade stream. The pilot laboratory facility is expected to cost around Rs 50 lakh.
Solar industry is a flourishing industry and Goa requires solar technicians in large number. The Industrial Training Institutes are gearing up for the same with the help of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
With the laboratories, the students will get practical knowledge of solar repairing and installation techniques. Only few ITIs in Goa have the facility of solar trade and of these only two ITI centers -- Bicholim and Cacora will have the laboratories.
