BICHOLIM
The Congress has decided to back candidates in six of the 14 wards at the Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) elections as part of the 'Bicholim Nagar Loksevak Manch'.
Addressing a news conference, Bicholim Block Congress President Meghshyam Raut said the Congress-backed candidates are Raunika Haldankar (Ward 8), Zarina Vernekar (Ward 9), Prabhar Kambli (Ward 10), Gurudas Gaonkar (Ward 11), Premanand Mayekar (Ward 12) and Sachin Mayekar (Ward 14).
“In the other eight wards of BMC, the Congress will extend support to candidates depending on the situation during the election period,” said Raut.
Raut claimed there had been no development in Bicholim since the last 25 years.
“Moreover, the BMC did not provide any help to people during the lockdown and Covid pandemic,” he added.
Raut appealed to people to support the Congress-backed candidates to ensure a corruption-free and smooth administration. On this occasion, Raut also released the manifesto of the Congress-backed candidates.
