Congress predicts majority for party in Assembly polls

PANAJI
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar on Saturday declared that with the growing support of people of Goa, Congress party will easily get majority with 23 to 26 seats in the upcoming polls to Goa Assembly.

He expressed hope that Goans will deprive BJP from the option of “manipulation and defection”.

Chodankar said, “After the results of the last assembly election, the desperate BJP didn’t respect the mandate of people and encouraged defection to gain power. This has indeed made loss of State, as our coffers have run dry. Knowing this and by posing trust in Congress the people will now not give any opportunity to BJP to further ruin our state.”

The GPCC president was speaking at the induction ceremony of Nazir Khan, from Vasco, former chairman of NCP Minority Cell, in Congress along with his supporters as a part of ongoing digital membership.

Repeating his comments on the Supreme Court verdict on municipal reservation in Goa, Chodankar said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s admission that the Directorate of Municipal Administration erred while formalizing the municipality election reservation plan proves that “he is a defective leader and a failed administrator”.

“Had he any dignity, he would have resigned by now. The very fact is that he has not tendered resignation so far exposes the shameless culture of the RSS,” Chodankar said while addressing a press conference in Congress House in Panaji.
