BJP’s DNA is anti-youth and anti-women: Congress

PANAJI

“BJP has turned “demographic dividend” into “demographic disaster”. BJP’s DNA is anti-youth and anti-women. Vote out unemployment. Vote out anti-women mindset. Vote out the BJP,” said Randeep Singh Surjewala General Secretary, Indian National Congress.

Surjewala was addressing the media in the presence of Congress leader and Goa in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, AICC Media in-charge for Goa election Alka Lamba, Sunil Kawthankar and others in Panaji on Saturday.

“The average age of Indians is 28 years. We are amongst the youngest countries in the world. The young in India and in Goa are asking a simple question “ what is “acche din” without jobs, employment and education!” he asked.

“The deep-rooted prejudice, denial of opportunities, denigrating the status of women as equals runs through the BJP’s veins,” Surjewala said.

Stating that India’s unemployment rate was at 7.9%, and Goa placed second, Surjewala said, “On the eve of elections, Narendra Modi promised 60 lakh jobs in five years i.e. upto 2027-28. This is a cruel joke and Goa CM, Pramod Sawant is making similar fake promises,” he said, adding that meanwhile, 60 lakh jobs are lying vacant in central and state governments.

Further adding that the GMC jobs scam has reflected unimaginable levels of corruption in the Sawant government, Surjewala said, “Besides GMC, recruitments in Legal Metrology, Health, Police, PWD and almost every other department have come under the scanner on account of illegality, favouritism and corruption.”

Speaking on the anti-women mindset of BJP, Surjewala said it was apparent from the statement of none other than Sawant, who responded to the gruesome rape of two girls near Benaulim beach by asking why their parents allowed them to go to the beach at night. “BJP should be ashamed of the fact that 66 % of rape survivors in Goa are minors.”
