Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said the BJP government is out to give the agricultural fields to the corporate lobby.
Citing the case of Goa, Sardesai pointed out that Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar is on the job to convert farmlands in the state. “I feel that the BJP is not interested in the farmer. The ruling party is more interested in conversions of agricultural land. This is presently their focus, to convert the agricultural fields for non-agricultural purpose,” he asserted.
He pointed out that a meagre 30 cases were converted under 16-B during his one and half year old stint as TCP Minister.
“Statistics now show that around 1,000 cases have been disposed off under 16-B, opening the state for sale,” he said, adding that it is surprising that the government is acting in haste to clear cases under 16-B in times of pandemic.
To another question, the Fatorda MLA said the government appears moving in the direction of bulldozing with some of the controversial projects with the help of IAS and IPS officers. “The fact that the government has posted IAS and IPS officers to take charge of crucial posts, indicates that it appears hell-bent in coercing the citizens who hit the roads to protest against ill-conceived and controversial projects.
