Promising maximum employment generation, development of world-class infrastructure, linking of social security schemes to inflation index and good governance, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its manifesto for the upcoming State Legislative Assembly polls.
The manifesto was released by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, and other BJP’s office bearers.
Addressing media persons after releasing the manifesto, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, “We have dedicated the next five years to employment generation. We want to generate maximum employment and make Goa free from unemployment. Additionally, world-class infrastructure will be developed and social security schemes will be linked to inflation index for biennial increase in benefits.”
Some of the other promises made in the manifesto include making Goa investor-friendly in industry, IT, tourism and ago-based sectors to attract investment and employment generation, revitalisation of CMRY, policy to regulate traditional occupations like sand, laterite and stone quarrying, industry status for tourism, loan facilities for agro-based activities at 1 per cent interest rate, replicate integrated school complex in major cities, four and six-laning of highways, covering government employees under DDSSY, ensuring 24x7 water supply, among others.
Additionally, the manifesto also promises completion of infrastructure projects in progress like bridges on Mandovi, Zuari, Talpona-Galgibag, Mala, Khandepar and Mopa airport.
The BJP has also promised to explore legal options to seek relaxation/ amendment on the order of the Supreme Court banning sale of liquor within 500 metres of highways.
Asked about the same, Parsekar said, “We are examining the issue. Preliminary surveys are also being done. First and foremost we have to accept that we are a touristic state. in Goa the conditions are such that they outlets are not just liquor shops but restaurants and over 2500 restaurants are affected with this. We are exploring all possible measures to give protection to these restaurants.”
