What is going on in Goa is what is relevant and not what is going on in Congress party, said Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, suggesting that the BJP was trying to divert people’s attention from the deteriorating law and order problem and utter mismanagement of the State.
Ferreira on Tuesday also said that he has not signed on any paper and he was not going to join any other party.
“There are masters in fake WhatsApp universities. They are good in diverting attention. For example, when I speak on the deteriorating law and order situation in Goa...But to divert people’s attention the WhatsApp university starts claiming 8 or 9 people are quitting Congress. Let us focus on what is going on in Goa. Why are you trying to divert, deflect (attention)? I think this is a strategy to run away from what is actually happening, of the mismanagement that is going on in the State,” Ferreira said.
The Aldona MLA opined that there were people on either side (BJP and Congress) who were desperate.
“All of us have a conscience to take a decision. I think if BJP is trying to poach MLAs then it’s a shame. They already have the numbers. I don’t think they need more people,” he said.
On rumours about he being part of the group to quit Congress, Ferreira said that he was not going anywhere and would remain with the Congress even if he was to be the lone person with the Congress.
“There are a lot of rumours. But I am not going anywhere. I am not in the game of switching sides,” he said.
Ferreira said off late WhatsApp universities had become super active putting several claims of people jumping fences and merging in other parties on the social media.
“To have someone’s signature, there has to be a meeting. You have to also have a mind to agree to a decision. And these decisions are not taken in a bathroom or bedroom. If at all somebody says he has signed, he has to be presented before the Speaker. It has to be confirmed before the speaker. There is a process by which there will be a verification. Simply someone can’t make claims,” he said.
