Refuting reports doing the rounds in certain quarters that the BJP top leadership may be behind the strident demand made by the MGP on the Dabolim seat, Mauvin said, “There’s no truth in these reports. On the contrary, the BJP leadership is helping out to ensure that the Dabolim seat goes to me and the MGP is accommodated somewhere else”.
He was reacting to reports that the BJP top leaders may be behind MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar’s claim over Dabolim saying the MGP will not give up its stake over Dabolim.
“The BJP and MGP leadership are presently discussing the alliance proposals from both sides. I am confident that the BJP will field me from Dabolim. Talks are underway to accommodate MGP somewhere else,” he said during an informal chat with the media during his visit to the SGPDA market on Sunday.
