Governor calls for unity among residents towards cleanliness

Administering a lengthy oath on Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Governor Dr Mridula Sinha on Sunday called for unity among the residents to make Canacona and Goa the cleanest region and the State in the country.

Dr Sinha was the chief guest at the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan concluding function at Canacona.   
Praising local MLA and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar for the resounding success of the one-day Abhiyan, Sinha without citing any incident of issue, said: “Resolve issues by sitting across the table. Lots can be achieved by talking and discussing.”   
“In a family consisting of father-mother and two children, nowadays the problem is all four have four different mobile phones and all talk, but all talk to different other people and none talk among themselves, leading to several problems in life. That is the problem with many of us. We should learn to talk and discuss. It helps to resolve any issues and problems.”   
“Different areas have different problems and residents themselves should step out to resolve it in its due necessity. Swacch Goa or Swacch Canacona has not ended today. This is just the beginning and   people just as they clean their households must also clean their surroundings during upcoming festivals. Lifestyle, however, changes as living habits changes. We should make it a habit to dedicate at least 2 hours daily for cleanliness,” she added,   
Others who spoke on the occasion included Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, special secretary to Governor Dr Radhakrishnan, while Canacona Municipal Council chairperson Prathana Naik Gaunkar welcomed and Canacona Deputy Collector Kedar Naik proposed the vote of thanks.   
Present on the occasion were ZP Khola Shanu Velip, ZP Poinguinim Dr Puspha Aiya, Goa Horticulture Corporation deputy chairman Mahesh Naik, CMC deputy chairperson Samita Dhuri, Councillors Chaya Komarpant, Hemant Naik Gaunkar, sarpanchas Bhushan Prabhugaonkar (Loliem-Polem), Vallabh Tengse (Poinguinim), Prashant Desai (Shristhal), Navneeta Naik Gaunkar (Agonda), Ajay Pagi (Khola), besides several panchas.
