Stating that the BJP-led government had done a lot in the last four years and had led the State on the path of progress, Rural Development Minister Alina Saldanha on Saturday said it was time for people to reciprocate the goodwill of the government.

“The government has carried out a lot of development in the last four years in the State. It’s time you pay back by bringing the government to power. Similarly, you have to re-elect the local MLA once again,” Saldanha said to a gathering at Panarim in Aldona.

She was speaking after inaugurating a community hall in Panarim in the presence of birthday boy and local MLA Glenn Ticlo.

The RDA minister said that the local MLA has taken up a lot of works in his constituency.

“He keeps track of the works and constantly calls up my office to follow up on works taken up through my ministry,” she said.

She urged the local people to make good use of the service of the community hall provided by the government.

“It is only when people come together, the purpose of the community hall will be served,” she said.

Local MLA and Goa Housing Board, Chairman Glenn Ticlo said that most of the projects taken up were completed only because of the development agenda of BJP-led government.

He regretted that work on the community hall could not be completed earlier.

“Nevertheless, I am happy that the community hall was finally thrown open by RDA Minister Alina Saldanha,” he said.

The community hall has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 23 lakh under the RDA scheme.

The RDA minister assured the people of Panarim that work on pavers and compound wall around the community hall will start in a week’s time.

The foundation stone for the community hall was laid at least four years back soon after the government came to power.

Aldona BJP Mandal, President, Franky Carvalho, ZP member, sarpanchas and panchas of surrounding villages were also present on the occasion.

Earlier the MLA took part in a blood donation camp at Pomburpa village panchayat.

Besides, at two other functions the MLA laid the foundation stones for a retaining wall at Ecoxim and a gymnasium at Quitula-Aldona in the presence of Water Resources Minister Dayanand Mandrekar and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar respectively.
