The BJP’s countrywide Jan Swabhiman Abhiyan reached Merces on Tuesday, with speakers lambasting the JNU incident and accusing students of raising anti-India, pro-Pakistan and pro-Afzal Guru slogans.

The speakers were also highly critical of political parties like the Congress and the CPI, who have openly come out in support of the students, stating that the agenda of these parties is to divide India.

Speaking at a corner meeting near Merces panchayat, newly-elected president of St Cruz BJP block Girish Uskaikar said the BJP condemns the incident of anti-India sloganeering that has occurred in JNU and later, in 18 other universities.

“Those who want to raise anti-India slogans have no right to stay in India and should, instead, go to Pakistan,” Uskaikar opined, while warning that such types of anti-national activities won’t be tolerated by the BJP.

Stating that the country is always the first mother of an Indian, BJP member Pramod Kamat chided the students for misusing their freedom and raising slogans against the very nation that has guaranteed them this freedom.

“Safeguarding the Constitution is the duty of every citizen and these anti-nationals have gone against the Constitution by saying that India will be torn in pieces,” Kamat said.

“Rahul Gandhi and the Congress having failed on all fronts, have now started a campaign to divide India. We won’t tolerate such anti-national activities,” Kamat added.

Speaking on the occasion, North Goa BJP general secretary Hemant Golatkar alleged that Pakistan is funding these students so that they could use them in anti-India activities in the future.

Golatkar also came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi for supporting these students, which shows that the Gandhi family and the Congress have no love and pride for the nation.
