Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar on Friday said the BJP is anxious and keen to win both the Lok Sabha seats from Goa in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The Union Minister descended in the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency on Friday, beginning with a luncheon meeting at the residence of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat. The meeting was attended by Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar, former MLA Damu Naik and former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar.
He told The Goan that he has made a presence in South Goa as part of the preparatory work started by the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
He said the BJP will go to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls with a clear mission and agenda to win both the seats from Goa. “The Lok Sabha polls are due in the next 8-10 months. Hence, the party has started the preparation for the 2023 battle. During our meetings, we discuss how to go about winning both the seats in Goa,” he said.
Asked to outline the candidate shortlisted by the party for the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency, the Union Minister said, “Today, the party has started the work of preparation for the election. The candidates for the two seats will be decided as and when the elections are announced.”
Saying he has just reached Goa and will be meeting with party leaders and workers in the coming days, Chandrashekar said he will also interact with citizens and discuss with them Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine-year rule in the country. “We will hear their ideas and thoughts and we will share out ideas and thoughts,” he quipped.
The Union Minister later descended in neighbouring Fatorda constituency and visited the residences of prominent citizens as part of the exercise.
