The body of Rupesh Shivaram Pilgaonkar of Koparde-Sattari, who went missing in Andhra Pradesh about 15 days ago, was found in a decomposed state in a pond.
The local police in AP is investigating if there was any foul play into the death of Pilgaonkar and were awaiting the arrival of family members.
Pilgaonkar, a rickshaw driver in Valpoi area, had gone with a cargo truck to deliver goods for a company in Andhra Pradesh. As the cargo truck reached at night, the goods could not be unloaded in the company premises.
The truck driver and Pilgaonkar decided to sleep in the truck, which was parked outside the company gate. Sometime around midnight, Pilgaonkar alighted from the truck to answer nature’s call.
When he did not return to the truck till next morning, the truck driver reported the matter to the local police and efforts were made to locate him.
Family members also filed a missing complaint with the Valpoi police and a police team left for AP.
On Monday, the body was found floating in a pond and it was later identified as Pilgaonkar.
