The South Goa Sessions Court on Monday convicted a woman of killing another woman at Bogda in the jurisdiction of Harbour Police station.
Sessions Judge Desmond D’Costa held Gracy Shetty guilty for the murder of Rukhmini Khanse and has posted the matter on January 4, for hearing on the point of sentence.
The prosecution led by Public Prosecutor Sarojini Sardinha examined 14 witnesses in support of its case.
Investigating officer, PI Kapil Nayak had charged Gracy Shetty for the murder of Rukhmini Khanse on June 10, 2015, following a scuffle between the duo over the return of loan money.
PI Nayak had charged the accused of slitting Rukhmini’s throat, assaulting her with a gas burner and later strangulating her to death in her house at Bogda. While leaving Rukhmini’s house after committing the murder, the accused was charged of lifting away the mobile phone of Rukhmini’s niece, which is believed to have later helped the police to zero in on Gracy for the crime.
