BUCB elections
BICHOLIM: The Zantye panel emerged victorious in the elections to the Bicholim Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd.The winning candidates of the Zantye panel included Ramchadra Garde (1748 votes), Sudesh Naik (1994), Ramanand Natekar (1725), Pravin Zantye (1746), Umesh Zantye (1762), Dr Shekhar Salkar (1762), Gurudatt Sanzgiri (1729) and Vinayak Shirodkar (1710). Meanwhile, one more candidate, Vijay Sardesai, who could not withdraw his nomination due to some technical error, but supported the winning panel, polled 134 votes. (TGN)

AGASSAIM: Over 150 villagers participated in a free computerised eye check camp organised by the Azossim-Mandur Panchayat, in collaboration with Unity Optical Mapusa, in the panchayat hall.
After the check-up, spectacles were given at a 50 per cent discount. Azossim-Mandur Sarpanch Asha Madkaikar supported the project. Sukesh Gawas, Prashit Naik and G Kaysuwkar assisted during the camp. (TGN)
