CCP Employees Union has began its indefinite strike from Monday and has threatened to stop lifting garbage in Panaji city. The union members staged a protest black ribbons tied to their wrists and foreheads in front of CCP headquarters.
“We had given a deadline of 21 days to fulfil our demands which CCP has not met. We condemn this act,” said Union president Adv Ajeet Singh Rane.
The Union has also threatened to stop lifting the garbage in the city. “If the circumstances are artificially being created by the CCP, we will be compelled not to lift garbage and the commissioner will be solely be responsible for this,” threatened Rane.
Rane also alleged that the CCP commissioner is misguiding CCP corporators by creating a confusion with regards to the legitimate demands of the union.
Presently, the union has put forth three demands “ enhancement of daily wages of workers from Rs 221 to Rs 409, regularisation of eligible daily wage workers and disbursement of 8 days salary for the striking period in December 2014.
