The Rachol Gram Sabha on Sunday accorded its approval for the annual budget estimates for the financial year 2016-17 pegged at around Rs 55.33 lakh.
Sarpanch Joseph Vaz said the panchayat is expecting funds to the tune of Rs 45 lakh from the Tribal Welfare Department for implementation of schemes under the Gram Sansad Yojana.
The Sarpanch informed that projects such as protective wall, roads and other infrastructure are proposed for the village under the scheme. “Given its small size, the annual revenue of Rachol Panchayat is pegged at around Rs 80,000. This year, however, we have finalized the budget at Rs 55.33 lakh taking into account the funds expected to come from the Tribal Welfare Department,” he said. During the meeting, some members tried to corner the Sarpanch for inaugurating the panchayat ghar without complying with HC directions.
