Demand made for fresh budget within three days time

One of the subjects was the 2017-18 budget estimates which could not be passed as villagers pointed several anomalies in it and asked the panchayat to prepare fresh estimates within three days so that it could meet the March 31 deadline.
Speaking on the subject, Tukaram Kunkolkar pointed out that the budget has been placed without the village development plan, which is against the directives of the Director of Panchayats to place the budget along with the development plan.
“However, since the deadline of March 31 is near, there is no time to prepare the development plan and hence the panchayat should at least place a comprehensive budget,” Kunkolkar added.
Highlighting the discrepancies in the budget, Govind Shirodkar cited that though the receipt column shows a total of over Rs 81 lakh, when
all the budget heads are accounted for the total zooms past Rs 90 lakh.
“This shows that the budget has been prepared in haste hoping that the villagers would be fooled,” Shirodkar chided and asked the panchayat to submit a fresh budget within three days time.
The issue of reservation of wards in Indira Nagar locality also came up for discussion with the residents questioning why OBC and ST wards are reserved in the area when the population of these communities is not substantial.
However, secretary Bheldas Karapurkar advised
the residents that the reservation is not done by the panchayat and urged them to approach the Election Commission of India to redress their grievance.
