GPCC General Secretary and Spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar said the previous two budgets of the same government were entire pro-elite. This interesting turn in the budget owes itself entirely to the grassroots mobilization undertaken by Rahul Gandhi, he stated.Kawthankar said the budget has promised dozens of things to farmers, but failed to offer complete loan-repayment waivers to those thousands of farmers dying in Maharashtra. Also, agricultural incentive will not benefit Goa where hundreds of acres of cultivable land is being grabbed in the name of development, he added.“This budget is going to kill Goa s tourism for good. For Goa s tourism driven economy, already reeling under Swachh Bharat cess, another 0.5 per cent Krishi Kalyan cess to be levied on all taxable services, is going to make trips to shops, restaurants, hotels more expensive,” he observed. He added further, “An additional infrastructure and agriculture cess will further chase tourists away from Goa, which is already termed as one of the most expensive tourist destination in India and the world.”He said pollution cess on various listed vehicles will upset taxis and private car operators in the State.
