The Betalbatim gram sabha on Sunday demanded action against the hotels, including revocation of the licence, if they have violated the building norms.
The issue came to the fore at the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes when members demanded to know the status of the inspections carried out by the Panchayats of the hotels located in the Panchayat jurisdiction.
After the Sarpanch pointed out that inspections of three out of the six hotels have been completed till date, the members told the Sarpanch to place the report before the gram sabha to initiate action.
Sarpanch Anthony, however, said the Panchayat has nothing to hide, adding that the Panchayat would place the inspection report before the gram sabha as and when the exercise is completed.
The gram sabha members demanded that the Betalbatim panchayat should initiate action against the hotels, including revocation of licenses if instances of violations of the building norms comes to light.
