A bull was killed in a bullfight at Mandrem on Wednesday and two persons have been arrested in this connection.
This is the third incident of a bull getting killed during a bullfight in Pernem taluka within a month.
According to Pernem Police Jivba Dalvi, the police had received information that a bullfight was organised at Mandrem on Wednesday morning and that, one bull had died in the fight.
Police went to the site and obtained details of the bullfight organisers and registered an FIR against two persons for the bullfight at Mandrem under Sections 429 R/w 34 IPC and Section 11(m)(ii)(n) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act.
Police later arrested Prajyot Masurkar of Parra and Ajim Mujawar of Kudal-Sindhudurg.
PI Dalvi said the police have already traced the dead bull and the postmortem has been conducted, while the second bull has been subjected for medical treatment. Further investigation is in progress.
He informed that action will be initiated against those organising bullfights.
Earlier on December 28, 2020, one bull was killed in a bullfight in Mandrem, while another bull also met with the same fate during a bullfight in the village on January 6.
