Bus breakdown causes major traffic jam on Patto bridge
The capital city experienced a major traffic jam in the first half of Friday after a bus broke down on the new Patto bridge.

Traffic police and Panaji Police personnel worked through the day to clear the traffic and to ensure a smooth flow into the city. It was later learnt that the road block was caused due to the breakdown of a tourist bus on the new Patto bridge. Panaji police informed that the tourist bus was carrying 48 schoolchildren from Porvorim to the Children's Park at Campal. However, fumes began emanating from the engine of the bus. At around 10 am, the bus broke down on the bridge thereby stopping vehicular movement on one side of the bridge. Panaji Police evacuated the bus and after the children were brought to safety, the bus was towed away. A fire incident has been registered and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
