Bus driver arrested for fatal mishap

MAPUSA

A bus driver was arrested on Wednesday on charges of fatally knocking down a 70-year-old pedestrian in Mapusa.

According to Mapusa Police, the deceased pedestrian, Gopinath Polle, was knocked down by the bus driven by the accused, Danny D’Souza, near the taxi stand, Mapusa on Tuesday at about 6 pm.

The victim was rushed to North Goa District Hospital and later shifted to GMC and Hospital, Bambolim later in the night. The victim succumbed to injuries on Wednesday morning.

The bus driver was arrested and later released on bail. Mapusa Police is investigating the case.
