All Goa Private Bus Owners Association have decided to support private taxi operators who have been fighting for their long-pending demands.
All Goa Private Bus Owners Association has officially formed a taxi committee to join in the fight of private taxi operators.
“We have formed the taxi committee and we will take up all issues related to private taxi operators,” said All Goa Private Bus Owners Association chief Sudip Tamhankar in a press conference on Sunday while officially announcing the formation of the committee.
Tamhankar said that Lokayukta has recently passed an order that government should investigate the matter of Goa Miles through a committee headed by a retired Judge.
This issue will be taken up by the taxi unit of the bus owners association.
Tamhankar also said that taxi operators should not panic over the transport department notice on digital meters. “We are in process of legally fighting the case in the High Court. Taxi operators should not bow down to the government’s pressure tactics,” he said and dared the government to cancel the taxi license of operators.
Tamhankar said that as per rule, the transport department should send all notifications regarding transport to the registered transport associations but the Goa transport department never sent such notification to the Goa Private Bus Owners Association.
