The State cabinet has on Friday through a resolution approved the name of Prashant Tendolkar to be the State Chief Information Commissioner as well as Pratima Vernekar and Juino de Souza as State Information Commissioners to make up the three-member Goa Information Commission.
“The names were proposed by a three-member commission consisting of myself, the deputy chief minister and the leader of opposition. The names have now been unanimously recommended to the Governor for her approval,” Parsekar said.
While Tendolkar is a former Additional President of Goa Administrative Tribunal and retired in February this year on attaining the age of 60, Pratima Vernekar is a former public prosecutor.
Juino is a former president of the Catholic Association of Goa.
The State government had advertised for the posts of Chief Information Commissioner and the two State Information Commissioners back on December 31 last year.
The government received 48 applications for the two posts of State Information Commissioner which after scrutiny was shortlisted to 13. For the post of Chief Information Commissioner the State government had received 14 applications of which five were shortlisted. The Commission is expected to take charge after the assent of the Governor.
