Deliberations at a meeting of top BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP State president, Sadanand Tanavade in Delhi on Wednesday night stirred up Goa’s political cauldron in which a cabinet shake up has long been speculated.
However, Sawant who returned from the national capital, said for the record that the deliberations pertained to the ongoing “Maha Jansampark” Abhiyan to initiate the party’s preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
BJP national president JP Nadda was also at the meeting where sources said, the issue of a cabinet reshuffle including inducting two of the eight MLAs who defected from the Congress in September last year, did feature.
The question of zeroing in on a candidate for the State’s lone Rajya Sabha seat which falls vacant next month when the incumbent Vinay Tendulkar retires was also discussed.
