The Calangute panchayat has directed all residents of flats, housing societies, residential and commercial complexes in Calangute to form and register their societies under the Goa Cooperative Societies Act.
In this regard, the Panchayat has issued a public notice signed by Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira and Secretary Arjun Velip.
This notice requires the formation of societies to be completed within one month. If this order is not complied with within the prescribed time, the residents or institutions concerned will be subjected to a fee of three times the house rent amount.
The Calangute Panchayat had earlier discussed this issue in the Gram Sabha. Subsequently, a resolution was passed in the Panchayat Board meeting held on June 29.
The Panchayat has appealed to residents to establish cooperative societies within the given time and register them and avoid any action by the Panchayat.
