Calangute Police seize 27 vehicles illegally rented out to tourists

While Calangute Police seized 24 vehicles including six four-wheelers for illegal renting the vehicles to tourists, Mapusa Police seized three two-wheelers for the same reason.  

Calangute Police detained six private four-wheelers including a Toyota Innova, Toyota Fortuner, Bolero, Thar and Hyundai Creta and 18 private scooters and motorcycles which were illegally given on rent to tourists.  

A police official informed that a report will be submitted to the court and also to RTO to initiate necessary action in the matter.  

Meanwhile, Mapusa Police seized three two-wheelers which were rented out illegally to tourists.  

According to Mapusa SDPO, Jivba Dalvi the owners had not obtained necessary permit from the authorities to rent the scooters. He said a report has been submitted to the court for issuing of fines.  

As per Motor Vehicle Act 192 the owners can be imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 per vehicle. All the owners will have to be present before the court.
