Call to hold Chinchinim gram sabha

Former Chinchinim Sarpanch Constancio Fernandes has urged the Salcete Block Development officer to direct the Chinchinim panchayat secretary to call for the gram sabha.

MARGAO:
In his representation to the BDO, the former Sarpanch drew attention of the Panchayat officer that the last gram sabha of the Chinchinim panchayat was held on August 28. He pointed out that even the budget estimates of the current financial year has not been placed before the gram sabha for approval, while urging the BDO to direct the Panchayat secretary to hold the gram sabha immediately.
Saying that the gram sabha held on August 28 was also called after the BDO had directed the Secretary to call the gram sabha as the same sarpanch had failed to call it, Constancio hoped that the BDO will not ignore the right of the people under the Panchayat Raj Act, but act.
Meanwhile, Constancio in another representation to the BDO, pointed that though the reconstruction of the Chinchinim garden was completed on May 12, 2016, the BDO office has not done the required inspection. “As a result, the Panchayat cannot implement its resolution of generating revenue through advertisement boards nor carry out any minor changes inside the garden,” he added.
