According to MMC officials, both oil corporations have been given a deadline to make partial payment of the
Rs 24 crore dues owed to the council.
MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik informed media persons that both oil corporations had been using municipal property and had earned hefty
profits.
“These corporations have not cleared their dues and if they fail to do so, we will seal their premises. One corporation agreed to pay 25 percent within a few days, while the other corporation has sought some time,” Naik told the
reporters.
In this connection, the MMC also conducted an inspection of premises of both corporations leased out by the council, to ascertain if they had undertaken any extension without permission from the council.
According to MMC chief officer Deepali Naik, the council had leased out its property to the two oil corporations on conditions that they would not undertake any extension without permission from the council.
“The municipal teams began inspection work at the premises of both corporations on Friday, while we also began talks with officials of both oil corporations regarding the pending dues,” the chief officer told media persons.
