The Minister for TCP Vijai Sardesai on Sunday underlined that nowadays knowledge has become power and youth in India are well-informed and education conscious unlike in the USA, where the percentage of dropouts is increasing leading to a disillusioned generation not conscious of political and social trends, which is why Trump could have won.

“You can’t imagine Donald Trump winning in India as our youth are education conscious. His victory is a reflection of youth from that country,” Sardesai said.

He was speaking at a function organised by Ponda First to felicitate meritorious students.

Goa Forward leader Rajesh Verenkar, director of Technical Education Vivek Kamat, Curti Khandepar Sarpanch Santan Fernandes, Kalpesh Parkar and others were present on the occasion.

Sardesai said that earlier a person having land was considered as powerful, then politics was considered as powerful and now the trend has changed and knowledge is considered as power.

“The future of our nation is in your hands. Hence to get power, knowledge is important. Knowledge itself is economy. Education is very important to take ahead knowledge economy. Hence we need to felicitate students who excel,” he said.

The Fatorda MLA also paid tributes to first CM Dayanand Bandodkar on his death anniversary.

“He had a vision to give education to the Bahujan samaj. He knew that to empower them education was a big leveler,” he said.

Sardesai further said that we need to have a vision for progressive society and for that we need improvisation. He also said that educated leaders can shape the state well.

“Society will not progress without it,” he said.

Director of Technical Education Vivek Kamat said urged the student community to improve in their wisdom and to build professional character, which is very important.
