CANACONA
Stating that it is his responsibility to bring all people from Canacona on one platform, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar advocated the formation of a Trust to help needy people in the taluka.
He also appealed to Canconcars to contribute just one rupee and devote one day of their life for the upliftment of the needy and downtrodden and help bring up that family ‘Swayampurn’ to live a happy life.
Tawadkar was speaking after unfurling the tri-colour at the Republic Day function at the Taluka Headquarters (Gaitonde Sports Complex), Chaudi in the presence of Canacona Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar and others.
“No person from Canacona should be left without food and clothing and I appeal to all Canconcars to maintain the tradition of offering assistance of every needy person."
“Let us form a ‘Trust’ and reach out to even the last person in Canacona and help them progress. We have already taken up the task to build 13 houses for homeless families in Canacona.”
“I appeal to all the earning citizens of Canacona to kindly donate just one rupee from their salary/wages, and those capable can give more, and one day to the people of Canacona, and let us help transform Canacona,” said Tawadkar.
Tawadkar admitted that people in Canacona have been dreaming of a four-lane road between Canacona and Margao.
“I took up the challenge and along with a few prominent citizens of Canacona began exploring ways to get this work completed on priority. With the positive reception by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, we will come to know the results in 5-6 months, begin this work within a year, and complete it in this two year’s time.”
“It is my promise to people of Canacona that all basic needs will be completed within the next year. People are equally concerned that employment is a matter of concern and Canacona does not have any industries like in Verna or other Industrial Estates. But we are exploring agro-based industries, non-polluting industries, expansion of tourism avenues which can make Canacona a cultural hub of the state,” he added.
Others present at the event included DySP Sandesh Chodankar, Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas, various taluka administrative heads of different departments in Canacona, CMC Dy Chairperson Laxuman Pagui, Development officer Ashok Naik, Sahityik Kamlakar Mhalshi and Fire Station Officer Ravindranath Pednekar.
