CANACONA
“We have not seen the BDO in Canacona for the last one and a half month. How do we get our various resolutions processed is a big question,” complained Loliem-Polem sarpanch Bushan Prabhugaonkar.
According to Prabhugaonkar, Canacona BDO Premanand Naik is a regular BDO in some other taluka, but has been given additional charge of Canacona.
“We don’t know if he has even more responsibilities. He is supposed to visit Canacona office twice a week, but he is hardly able to meet people’s aspirations, and even though I have been on and off visiting the BDO office to oversee the progress of panchayat files, I haven’t seen him for the last one-and-half months,” said Prabhugaonkar.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make rural India strong and self-reliant. If we do not have a full-time BDO, how do the panchayats function? How do we make rural India strong, if our panchayats can’t obtain the full-time services of a BDO, the only link between rural local bodies and government?” asked Prabhugaonkar.
