CANACONA
Hundreds of people are thronging Tudal's narrow road where Bamonbudo waterfall is located right across the road between Gaondongrim-Canacona and Netravali-Sanguem.
The weekends are particularly chaotic as many head to the waterfall which is easily accessible by road and do not require any tracking. However, the narrow village road comes as a slumber, making safety of many locals and farmers a matter of concern.
According to a local and former Gaondongrim sarpanch Rajendra Gaonkar, visitors to the waterfall tend to drive on the road in a frenzy, unmindful of the pedestrians.
The road is particularly used by farmers which consists of many men and women and also village children.
Besides, due to infighting among groups, which is mainly due to insufficient space for parking of vehicles and proper place to enjoy delicacies brought along, the tense situation has been a cause of worry.
Over the years, the villagers have been complaining of eve teasing and infighting at the waterfall and had demanded police protection, and since two years now, Canacona Police have been deputing two personnel at the site.
Locals are also raising concerns of trash including plastic left behind by the visitors.
Incidentally, many picnickers in a bid to avoid weekend rush, tend to create a rush on week days, with many driving in groups to Bamonbudo waterfall.
