Former Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson and candidate from Ward 16 Manesh Arolkar on Saturday filed a complaint with the Dy Collector and police expressing concerns over security measures of the strong room where the ballots have been stored.
In his complaint, Arolkar said he had inspected the strong room at Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) institute and felt it was not safe.
"Having inspected the strong room, I have noticed that there are two policemen from inside and there is no security from outside.”
“The door outside the strong room premises seems vulnerable and easy to break. Another issue is the strong room does not have a power backup or a generator for uninterrupted power supply.”
“In case there is no power during the night, there is every chance of mischief or an untoward incident talking place. I have requested authorities to take immediate action. The security measures must be beefed up immediately," said Arolkar.
