A rusted electric pole fell on a car parked on the road close to an old age home, opposite Hospicio hospital, throwing up questions on the upkeep and maintenance of such poles that endanger the lives of motorists and pedestrians.

The local residents claimed that many an electric pole along the are all corroded. “It appears that the department has been found wanting in carrying out the upkeep and maintenance of the poles at regular intervals,” lamented a senior citizen, while demanding that the government carry out an audit of the iron electric poles, which were erected at the time of underground cabling over a decade ago.
