A Hyundai Getz car was completely gutted in a major fire on the Damodar College road at Comba here on Friday evening. The fire brigade, which reached the spot, extinguished the fire, but could not save the property. The loss due to the fire is pegged around Rs 75,000.
The incident occurred when a mechanic was driving the car on Friday evening. When the car reached the Damodar college road near the Comba subway, the driver spotted smoke billowing from the engine. He immediately rushed out before the car was gutted in the fire.
Fire Officer Gill D’Sa said the fire brigade extinguished the fire, but the car was completely damaged in the incident.
