Authorities descend at Varca, Colva to inspect Covid care centres
MARGAO: A team of senior South Goa district officials comprising of Deputy Collector, John Fernandes, OSD to Collector Ashutosh Apte and Salcete Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar descended in Varca and Colva to inspect the proposed Covid care centres in Benaulim constituency.
The inspection of the premises at the Varca Church school building and the Colva Church hall was carried out after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sanctioned two Covid care centres upon the request made by Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao.
Briefing the media after the meeting with the officials, Churchill said the Covid care centres will come in handy for people infected by Covid, but cannot isolate themselves at home and have no medical access. “The two centres will be manned by doctors and nurses and they will recommend whether the patients need further hospitalisation or not. I appeal to the people not to stay at home, but avail the facilities at the Covid care centres,” Churchill said.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Benaulim MLA said the Covid care centres at Varca and Colva will go a long way in meeting the requirements of Covid patients from the coastal belt.
