Office-goers from Sindhudurg were denied entry into Goa at the Banda check post after the State government made it compulsory to produce a Covid negative certificate of the last 72 hours.
The agitated youth then blocked traffic along the Mumbai-Goa highway, causing tension for a brief period.
The office-goers sought to know why trucks had been exempted from this condition and complained that it was not practical or feasible to obtain such Covid negative reports every 72 hours.
Banda Sarpanch Akram Khan rushed to the site to defuse the tension and Sindhudurg BJP Block President Rajan Teli later spoke to Speaker Rajesh Patnekar about the matter.
After some time, officials from Sindhudurg undertook the responsibility to conduct tests of all employees entering the State. Local BJP leaders said they would discuss the matter with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
