Corporates offer ambulances, equipment to Chicalim SDH

VASCO

At a time when the State is reeling under a surge of Covid cases and deaths, many corporates and social workers in and around Vasco have chipped in by offering ambulances and equipment to the Chicalim Sub District Hospital (SDH).

While in the last few days, Vasco has seen social workers offering their vehicles and ambulances as well as free delivery of food to Covid patients, Anand Bose of Anand Bose Construction donated a state-of-the-art ambulance worth Rs 23 lakh to the Chicalim hospital.

The ambulance was delivered to the hospital and handed over to Medical Superintendent and Health officer Dr Anil Umraskar by Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho.

Godinho said many corporates had come forward to help the Chicalim SDH with ambulances and other medical equipment.

“The ambulance has facilities like a mini-operation theatre and is one of the most well-equipped ambulances,” said Godinho, who added that Bose had provided the hospital with tea and coffee maker for staff and doctors to mark International Nurses Day.

“Zuari Agro will be giving us an oxygen generating plant which will fill 25-30 oxygen cylinders per day. Besides, JSW will give us beds, mattresses, oximeters and other medical equipment.”

“Another company has volunteered to supply food and water to staff and patients at the hospital. GSL will offer a refrigerator, laptops and other machines to the hospital.”

“People have been chipping in to address some shortcomings at the Chicalim SDH to ensure that this hospital continues to serve the people of Mormugao taluka as a government health facility," said Godinho.
