Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said Step-Up hospitals have been reducing the stress on Goa Medical College hospital and district hospitals to a considerable extent.
Sawant was speaking after inspecting the Step-Up Hospital housed at the Keshav Seva Sadhana, Bicholim. He reviewed medical facilities at the hospital, which has a capacity of 70 beds.
At present, 33 Covid patients are receiving treatment, of which 10 are on oxygen support.
He had a word of praise for Health Officer Dr Medha Salkar, Dr Gaurish Palav, Dr Shekhar Salkar, AYUSH Doctors, medical officers and other medical staff for working round the clock to treat Covid patients.
Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar and other officials were also present during the inspection.
Meanwhile, Speaker and Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar provided a van to Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) at his own cost.
BMC Chairperson Kundan Falari and other councillors were among those present.
Patnekar appealed to people to get in touch with the councillors in case they need the van services.
