The Carmona panchayat has resolved to issue letter to Verda resorts to immediately comply with the High Court directions and shutdown all operations following the expiry of the 30-day grace period.
Carmona Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge informed that the resort has to follow rules of the State and the Judiciary immediately failing which he warned that the panchayat would move in to revoke the occupancy for allegedly flouting the terms of the Occupancy Certificate which was issued purely for residential purpose.
Verda resorts appeal filed in the High Court against the order of the South Goa district court was dismissed as the High Court found no error in the order passed by the district court against Verda resorts.
Meanwhile, at the panchayat body meeting held on October 30, the panchayat had also decided to take action on all food carts and other encroachments on the road shoulders and widening areas as per their notice published in the newspapers by compiling and sending notices to all defaulters.
