The panchayat has also taken a further decision not to any grant licence for mobile towers in future which are coming up in the residential area.
The panchayat meeting chaired by Sarpanch Sandra Martins deliberated on the memorandum signed by the villagers opposing the location of mobile towers in residential localities of the village.
After the meeting, Sandra told The Goan that the panchayat has decided to reject the two files submitted by the companies to erect towers in the village.
“Since the village panchayat came to a conclusion that the two towers are proposed to come up in residential localities of the village, we have decided to reject the applications,” Sandra said.
While asserting that henceforth the panchayat will not entertain any file for mobile towers in a residential locality, the sarpanch, however, said that the mobile companies should look out for areas which are away from human habitation before finalizing the site for the towers.
