Gandhi remembered at Ponda

PONDA: Former chief minister Ravi Naik on Saturday said nobody can erase the history of Mahatma Gandhi and other Congress leaders who fought for freedom and worked for betterment of the nation.

Naik was speaking at a function to mark the 68th death anniversary of Gandhi. The event, organized by his party workers, was conducted at Khadpabandh and was attended by a large number of Congress workers.

Naik along with his workers paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and observed two minutes' silence.

Former PMC chairperson Kishore Naik, Diksha Naik, Dinkar Mundye, Ashok Naik, Bhai Naik, Hussain Mulla, Shabbir Sheikh and others were present on the occasion.

Lamenting that even newspapers did not give importance to Mahatma Gandhi and had failed to publish about Gandhi’s death anniversary, Naik said, “I was shocked to see that nobody had carried the news.”

He also accused the NDA and BJP government of attempting to wipe out the history of Congress.

“Gandhiji gave us good thoughts and a way of life. Will they (BJP) get success by wiping out his thoughts,” asked Naik.

He also claimed that some were trying to malign the image of Gandhiji without knowing history.
