An offshore casino has fallen victim to cheating by one of its staff members who allegedly submitted a fraudulent gaming report, indicating that a guest had gambled a huge sum at the casino, making him eligible for a bonus.
A complaint filed by Authorized Signatory for Golden Globe Hotels Private Ltd with Panaji police station alleges that Deepak Das, an employee of Big Daddy Casino, intentionally fabricated and submitted a false gaming report about one of their guests named Asim.
The report inaccurately mentioned that the casino-playing guest gambled a substantial amount, which made him eligible for a bonus payment of Rs 1.70 lakh. The complainant alleged that in reality, Asim had only played Rs 27,000, which meant the company’s bonus policy of rewarding its players or guests for every lakh played, was exploited.
As a result, the company ended up paying Rs 1.70 lakh to Asim, who was not entitled to receive such a bonus. The complainant further alleged that this amount was later illicitly shared between both the accused persons. The Panaji police have registered an offense under sections 408 (criminal breach of trust), and 420 (cheating) read with 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code; and launched a search to arrest the accused employee who hails from Maharashtra.
